Where do I find this player file everyone's talking about?
Depending on the drive letter of your install, most everyone's is located here.
C:Program FilesARCA RemaxUserDataYourName
The file you are looking for is YourName.PLR
You can open this file with Wordpad(My Preference) or Notepad.
How do I get the roll bars out of my mirror in the cockpit view?
Open the YourName.PLR file.
Scroll down to [ Graphic Options ] and look for this line
Self In Cockpit Rearview="1"
Change the 1 to a zero like so Self In Cockpit Rearview="0" and save the file.
Fire up ARCA and enjoy the view:)
How do I get a better Frame Rate?
This is a graphic intense sim but this seems to have helped everyone that I race with. You need to do this in the order posted for it to work correctly.
1- While in the game, go to the Graphics/Audio tab.
Set Opponent Detail and Player Detail to LOW.
Exit the game.
2-Open the YourName.PLR file.
Scroll down to [ Graphic Options ] and look for these lines.
Player Texture Override="-1"
Opponent Texture Override="-1"
You can change the number from 1-3
Low texture= 1
medium= 2
High= 3
I suggest the 3 setting like so
Player Texture Override="3"
Opponent Texture Override="3"
Don't forget to take out the - sign when doing this:)
Basically you get the lower detail model but with higher res skins.
This is by far the best FPS tweak I have found.
Thanks to Kevin Paliwoda for pointing this out.
Where do I learn how to paint these cars and get them in
Here are some links I have found useful.
Every track has a folder in the Settings folder so just put the setup associated with that track in the correct folder.
What do I need to do if no servers show up when I go to Race Online?
Look for this line in the YourName.PLR file. It will be under [ Game Options ]
Disable NetComm="1" // If 1, network features are disabled
Change the 1 to a zero like so
Disable NetComm="0"
Save the file and you should be able to see the servers again.
How can I make a shortcut that goes straight to my league server without having to put in the password every time?
Go to your C:Program FilesARCA Remax folder.
Right click on the ARCA.exe and click Create Shortcut. It will create a shortcut in the ARCA Remax folder. You can rename this to whatever you want. I named mine GTRL Server.
Now right click on the shortcut and click properties. In the target line you should see "C:Program FilesARCA RemaxARCA.exe"
Here is where you put in your server information. Do it in this format.
+connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx +password "xxxxxxxxx"
My target line looks like the one below except the server numbers and password are not the ones I use. Make sure you click apply after the changes and you can drag the shortcut to your desktop if you want to.
